30th January 2022
Dear Parents,
It has been great to see the House Charity events starting to take place these last few weeks. Hildegard House sixth form leaders raised over £200 last week for their House charity through selling hot chocolates at lunchtime to pupils. On Friday, the Bernadette House sixth form leaders were selling cakes at breaktime for their chosen charity. Next Friday it’s the turn of Thérèse House. We also had our book swap in the vestibule at lunchtime, where pupils got to pick up new second hand books to read. Period 3 I bumped into excited year 11 Art students and their teachers on their way out to Southampton Art Gallery to get inspiration for their GCSE pieces. The evening before students went to the Mayflower to see the Curious Case of the Dog in the Night time. It's great to see the school buzzing with all kinds of activities.
Face coverings, testing and vaccinations
Case numbers are lower this last week than the previous week, but still higher than we would like. As such, we are going to keep face coverings in classrooms and communal areas for another week and review again on Friday 4th February. Do please keep testing. The latest Saliva Testing programme is attached. We have been asked to share the following information about walk in jabs for anyone over-12. No appointment is needed and knowing your NHS number is not essential:
A message from the Southampton Psychology Service: Telephone consultation service for parents and carers of children and young people with social communication difficulties
Educational psychologists are trained and experienced in child development, learning and wellbeing. We use psychology to promote learning, development and wellbeing for children and young people.
Our new telephone/video consultation service is available to parents and carers of children and young people with social communication difficulties and/or autism. Consultations can be requested where there is a concern about learning and education, behaviour, or worries about wellbeing. Discussions are confidential.
See the attached flyer for more information.

The results of our most recent parent voice are in and I would like to share them with you. We ask parents their views on the school after each parents evening. Thanks to all those who complete the questionnaire and tell us what you think of the school. Below is a summary of the results and compared to national data released by Ofsted up to March 2020. We use this information to determine next steps for the school. We think the response for clubs and activities is affected by the pandemic, but we are taking steps to revive this aspect of our work. Although above national, we need to work on helping you know what your child will learn through the year and will be setting up an assessment and reporting working group to look at what we report to parents and how that fits in with helping you know what your child will be learning, and how you can support them with that throughout the year.
