Parent Update 18th June 2021

18th June 2021

Dear Parents,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COVID TESTING BELOW.

PLEASE KEEP TESTING.

It has been a great week having our year 11s in for their Headstart to A Level programme. We have had excellent attendance to our sessions, and we hope students have enjoyed the experience of being sixth formers for the week. Our Bronze DofE expeditions went well (see photo), and students can continue on to their Silver Award in year 12. Our Sixth Form Welcome Day is on Monday, and those that have applied to our sixth form will have the chance to hear more about the outstanding sixth form provision they will be experiencing next year. It's not too late to apply for sixth form: https://st-annes-soton.eschools.co.uk/web/application_form/174085.

Case numbers in Southampton are beginning to rise, and nationally, the number of LFD tests being completed by families has dropped in recent weeks. We are still in a pandemic and need to keep testing so that we can get back to full normality as quickly as possible. The Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, has written a letter to parents to talk about the importance of testing.

COVID-Testing

Saliva testing will be starting again from the week beginning the 28th June. One saliva test a week replaces the need for two LFD tests. It is more accurate and comfortable to complete. We strongly encourage all students to be taking part in testing.

Your daughter or son is welcome to also do a follow up LFD test on the same week if they would like.

A reminder of how to complete the saliva test can be found in this video and full details are on our website: https://st-annes-soton.eschools.co.uk/web/saliva_testing/545956.

Drop Off Days:

Year 9 and 10: Every Monday, starting Monday, 28th June.

Year 7 and 8: Every Thursday, starting Thursday, 1st July.

Year 12 and staff: Choose, and then stick to, one of the days above.

COVID Safety at School

With the delay to the full reopening of our country delayed until the 19th July. The system of controls in schools is expected to stay. We will be continuing with all the safety measures we have had this year until at least then. That includes face coverings, hand sanitiser, one way systems and year group hubs.
