Parent Update 13th July 2020

13th July 2020

Dear Parent,

We hope this update finds you and your family well.

 September Opening planning

The expectation in September is that schools reopen fully to all pupils. We are delighted that we are going to be able to move back to a gathered school rather than a dispersed school. I have no doubt that parents and pupils are eager to know how we intend to approach this, and so we have created written information and also a video presentation on our plans.

The written information is attached to the email sent to parents and can also be found on our website under September Reopening.

There is quite a lot of information in it, and so we have also created a video version with visual markers to allow you to fast forward to the sections that you want to information on. The video can be found by going to: https://youtu.be/KZXbS2pPvKQ

We are still awaiting some further guidance, and it may well be that these plans evolve a little over the holidays. We will let you know if anything changes. Don't forget, all previous parent updates that we've sent during the school closures can be found by clicking the "Information for parents during school closure" image on our front page, or by going to the News section of our website.

Support for Parents and young people from Ms Wright, Inclusion Lead

  1.  Attached is a document produced by the NHS Southampton Mental Health Support Team. The theme is managing change and it has advice for parents and resources for parents and young people as we get ready to do more things as society changes again.

  1. Also, Barnardo’s has put together some brilliant support for young people and families during Covid-19 and they are updating and adding to it all the time. The website opens best in Google Chrome https://www.barnardos.org.uk/support-hub. The support hub has resources, articles, podcasts, animations and links to support with emotional wellbeing, families, online life and soon there will be additional resources specifically aimed at returning to school, SEND and Young Carers.

  1.  Finally, Southampton Family Trust is running a free online course for parents. If you wish to take part, please see the attached.

There will be a final message from me towards the end of the week, so in the meantime, may I thank everyone for your continued support of the school community.

God Bless

Mr Rouse
