23rd May 2022
Dear Parents,
It has been a fantastic (and rather quick!) half term. Our public exams season for year 11 and 13 has begun for the first time since the summer of 2019. We have been really impressed by how focused, calm and good-natured both year groups have been, particularly year 13 who did not get to complete public exams in year 11. The rest of the school have adapted well to the new one-way systems and "quiet" signs around the site which we put in place every exam season. Our year 10 prefects are taking their responsibilities to remind others during the changeover between lessons very seriously. They are all a credit to you and to the school.
Despite its brevity, we have had such a great range of activities going on this term, including:

Southampton City of Culture Bid 2025
Tuesday 24th May is another big day in the bid process. Southampton City Council say: "Southampton will be on national TV, featured in a special report on BBC’s One Show on Tuesday 24 May at 7:00pm. So on Tuesday, we all need to make as much noise about Southampton as we can! Please join us and take to your social media platforms to celebrate and shout about Southampton." You can find out more here. Also, if you haven't seen it, this video for the bid is really good.
Information for pupils for Sports Day from Mrs Kutty (Head of PE)
Soon a letter will arrive via Eschools regarding Sports Day. As this is a normal school day there is no need to give permission as it is compulsory for all pupils to attend. Only if you wish to come and spectate will you need to click the link in the letter to complete a short online form by the deadline. Unfortunately, without this information you will not be allowed into the perimeter fence to watch.
Pupils are expected to make their own way to and from the Sports Centre. If you do need transport, there is an email address on the letter for you to use and ask for a space on the bus. This must also be done before the deadline. This will allow time for transport to be booked.
Thanks in advance for your support with this.
Operation Endeavour
Please see attached for a letter regarding a joint venture between schools and the police to ensure that we keep our young people as safe as we possibly can.
