Parent Update: 27th January 2021

27th January 2021

Dear Parent,

We are tending to put out an update roughly once a week and it normally falls to Friday to be the day when it arrives in your inboxes, but today is an unusual day:

The Prime Minister made a statement in the House of Commons this afternoon detailing what I think most of us expected: schools will not be opening as normal after half term. It seems that the current way of working will be continuing for at least the first two weeks after half term, with the hint of a staggered ("gradual and phased") return from the 8th March. Free school meal vouchers will remain being available to parents as vouchers, it seems. We will be in touch if that is not the case. We hear these announcements at the same time as everyone else so I'm afraid I cannot give any more information about what might happen after the 8th March at this stage.

I know this will bring a mix of emotions for everyone in the school community: frustration for the effect on our children's education, relief in terms of concerns about the virus, resignation that this is the way it has to be. Whatever you are feeling, rest assured that we remain committed to doing the best for our young people regardless of the restrictions.

For those families who are eligible, we have extended the booking of places in the school on our website for the first two weeks after half term. It can be found on the front page of the website. If you are not sure if you are eligible, you can click here to find out the criteria or go to one of the weekly forms on our website.

We have a few other notices but I will save those for Friday.

In the meantime, have a safe rest of your week,

God Bless

James Rouse
