23rd April 2020
Dear Parent,
I hope that you have had a positive, albeit restricted, Easter break. Today's email is a chance to provide a range of information.
Learning
I hope that access to Microsoft Teams remains positive. The feedback we have had to the survey in our last email is very positive, and will help us shape what we continue to provide. A reminder that you can access support for Microsoft Teams at: https://st-annes-soton.eschools.co.uk/web/microsoft_teams.
Educational Provision onsite
We continue to provide educational provision on site for children of critical workers and vulnerable families. The registration process for this is weekly, closing reach Thursday for the following week, and can be found on the front page of our website: https://st-annes-soton.eschools.co.uk.
Free School Meals
We are working hard to ensure that the vouchers for free school meals are finding their way to families who are eligible for free school meals. We will continue to send out vouchers by email to the email address we have for parents. This will be the provision for all families unless you tell us otherwise. This national system is experiencing delays (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-52283067) and we are as frustrated as families are with the time it is taking to get into the website. Contact Emma Wright at emma.wright @st-annes.uk.com if you need further support.
Cancellation of exams for year 11 and year 13.
Ofqual have provided a short video for students outlining their decisions regarding the cancellation of the exams for 2020. It is also worthwhile for parents to view this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXuDOrtJY1Q&feature=youtu.be. In addition please note that the students' results will be published on the dates originally planned (Thursday 13th August for Y13 and Thursday 20th August for Y11). School will be open from 09:30 to 11:30 both days to pick up results.
Sixth form enrolment for September 2020
We sent letters to all our sixth form applicants at the end of last term explaining that we are very aware of the anxiety around entry to sixth form that this current crisis brings. We'd like to reassure you that we are very mindful that this year we need to be flexible with our approach to entry requirements, and we are devising ways to ensure that the right students get on the right courses without being disadvantaged by the school closures. We will be sending more information out on that shortly to all our applicants. If your daughter has not yet applied to our sixth form and would still like to, then please get in touch with Mr Matteucci, our head of sixth form at andrea.matteucci@ st-annes.uk.com.
Ramadan
We want to wish those families who observe it 'Ramadan Mubarak' for when the holy month begins. We have no doubt that families will work hard to ensure that good learning routines set up in the last few weeks will continue into this new phase of the year.
Immunisations (A message from Solent NHS Trust)
Due to coronavirus our immunisation programme is currently postponed. Once the Government reinstates school attendance for all, we will be rearranging any sessions that have been delayed. We will, of course, be reviewing this situation in line with Government guidance and recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us via: snhs.childrensimmunisationteam@nhs.net
St Anne's wins award!
I finish with the great news that St Anne's have yet again won an award from the SSAT for the exceptional student progress made in 2019. We are delighted that the progress our students made put us in the top 15% nationally.
I wish you and your families continued good health and that you remain safe during this difficult time.
God Bless
James Rouse
Headteacher
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by online service providers in order to (for example) make their websites or services work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner or service provider (in this case, eSchools) are called “first party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website or service you are using (such as advertising, interactive content and analytics). The third parties that set these third party cookies can recognise your computer both when it visits the website or service in question and also when it visits certain other websites or services.
We use first party and third party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Services to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” cookies. Other cookies enable us and the third parties we work with to track and target the interests of visitors to our Services, and we refer to these as “advertising” or “analytical” cookies. For example, the embedding of YouTube and Vimeo videos, as added by individual schools, will require “advertising” cookies to be enabled in order to successfully play them. Schools that, for example, opt to track visitor data using Google Analytics will require “analytical” cookies to be enabled in order to do so. These third party cookies are used to tailor content and information that we may send or display to you and otherwise personalise your experience while interacting with our Services and to otherwise improve the functionality of the Services we provide. We also enable schools to employ cookies and similar tracking technologies in connection with their use of our Services in order to allow them to track visitors to and interactions with their school website.
eSchools websites may request cookies to be set on your device. We use cookies to let us know when you visit our websites, how you interact with us and to enrich your user experience. The cookies differ depending on the information. You can adapt your cookie preferences, although please note that blocking some types of cookies may impact your experience on our websites and the services we are able to offer. We will not, without your express consent, supply your personal information to any third party for the purpose of their or any other third party's direct marketing.
Our Services allows schools to embed code which may potentially contain cookies. Please note embedded content, if displayed on one of our websites, has been added by the school and not by eSchools. The embedded content added by the school may require additional cookies or tracking technologies to be enabled in order to function.
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. Be aware that cookie preferences are set on a per device basis; therefore you may need to set your preferences on each device you use.
