The Duke of Edinburgh award is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to be the very best they can be. The award encompasses four sections; an expedition, physical activity, skills and volunteering. Pupils can start the Bronze award in Year 9 and continue on to the Silver award as they progress through the school and on to Sixth Form.
Each group is allocated a trained leader who works with the group on a weekly basis as they complete the award. St Anne’s offers the full expedition section to all our participants with a complete programme of training both in the classroom and out in the field with an assessment weekend once in the year. There are plenty of walks in the New Forest beforehand. Our pupils really enjoy their adventures out walking and camping together; they gain an amazing sense of achievement.
